The Queen Mary completed.... She was the second largest ship to be built ever at this time and she was criticised for being too traditional, the Normandie the largest ship afloat with her streamlined bow and her ultra modern interiors was her superior in the eye's of the press and public. After the Normandie disaster the Queen Mary and her sister the Queen Elizabeth would become legendary, the two greatest ocean liners to cross the Atlantic.

SS Pasteur was a French ship launched in 1938 and was built to carry passengers and freight on their South Atlantic routes. Her official maiden voyage was canceled due to the outbreak of WW2 she would serve as a troop ship. After the war she was sold and renamed the Bremen only to be resold again, in 1980 the ship now named Filipinas Saudi I sank stern first.

(The Normandie's Destruction Part 4) On February,9 1942, sparks from a welding torch ignited a stack of life vests filled with flammable kapok. The fire quickly spread and New York City Firemen poured so much water on the blaze that the ship began to list and eventually capsize, the end to the most glamorous liner ever built.
